Colorado Trip Day #1

Our trip to Colorado was a treat from Roger's parents for all of the kids/grandkids for their 40th Anniversary. We piled into two 15 passenger vans and our Expedition pulling a U-Haul for all our luggage. This gang included 34 people and 21 of them were kids!! We had a hard time fitting all 13 car seats in the vans and leaving enough room for the rest of the adults!!

Our lodge was an eight bedroom/eight bathroom house nestled in the Spanish mountains amidst the Aspen Trees and occassional deer. It was beautiful and we had great weather - no rain. Roger's parents prepared all the meals (some were made ahead of time) and we had some GOOD food! Keeping all our cups straight was tricky, hence, the names on them all..

This van had the older cousins with the dads, while the moms were in the other van with the babies, including two pregnant moms. The cousins had a ball with each other in the vans and the 10 hour drive actually went pretty quickly.

In the evening, after we arrived at the lodge and worked out the rooming assignments (which was no easy task), we had dinner and a family devotion time when Grandpa Neir shared how he became a Christian as a boy.

Our "little cabin in the woods"

Some of the cousins are supervising the loading of the U-haul with all our luggage and supplies (including bottled water and food, baby seats, stollers, toddler riding toys, etc.
