Here in Charlotte, NC.......

The day started out early and we were thankful that we were leaving town since the forecast was nothing but rain. The kids all wore their "Thing 1,2,3,4" shirts and got alot of smiles. On our first flight, Dawson demonstrated the use of the barf bag to Cooper...

Then, we arrive in Charlotte, NC and found out that our flight to KC was cancelled (don't know why). No other flights were available the rest of the day so we were given a hotel for the night and a flight out in the morning......

Things we did to pass the time in Charlotte, NC........

  • Wait two hours in line to find out there are no more flights today.
  • Look through trash cans to find Coke bottle tops.
  • Look at $600 fountain pens and wonder why we don't have a dozen of them already.
  • Try to keep all your "Things" in one place.
  • Feel grateful that we got our luggage tonight (others didn't)
  • Realize that this unexpected delay is nothing compared to another family we met that was on our cancelled flight (on their flight to Orlando, the airlines had no record of their tickets from Expedia so they had to rent a car and drive 22 hours to Orlando and be out the $2,000 for the plane tickets. Then their flight gets cancelled on the way home and get stuck in Charlotte with no luggage)
  • Check into our hotel room only to find out that there is a roaring private party at the pool right outside our window and the music is shaking our walls.
  • We go down to dinner in the hotel restauraunt and wait 1 hour and 40 minutes to find out they are out of cheese for our appetizer and finally get our check after spending 2 1/2 hours at the table (playing Phase 10)
  • Spend the night in a state we have never visited before (next time maybe we can see more than just the airport and hotel)
